Many of us “seasoned citizens” have already retired. Some are enjoying all the hobbies and things we dreamed of doing during our family-raising and work lives. Others of us have begun second or thirds acts, perhaps as volunteers or entrepreneurs. Some are suffering with ill health or low incomes.
This page is dedicated to supporting all of us through well researched articles you will see posted and updated here on a weekly basis. We will also be keeping you up to date on our progress to reach out to senior veterans and surviving spouses to make sure they know of all the benefits they have earned and didn’t even realize.
For instance, one of our major initiatives in 2021 and 2022 is a program to reach seniors in centers and where they live to make sure those of us living below the poverty line register for an average of $11,000 a year that is free from the VA for low income vets and surviving spouses.

In addition, there may be other federal, state and local government or private resources for your individual needs.
VA, Government, and Organization Help
Know A Vet? presents this information and these national resource directories, not as a recommendation of any specific service or provider, but as a starting point for your own research.
Clicking here will bring you to a database of other VA services you can locate by zip code.
Please also check out our page on Filing Claims. We recommend that you do NOT file claims on your own. If you do not file exactly the way the VA looks for information, it can take literally years for your claim to go back and forth before approval or denial.
The other resources listed, such as your local Veterans Service Office (names vary by county), VSO counselor, VFW, etc., will help you determine what you are eligible for and file correctly for results in as little as a few weeks.
