Before COVID closed the world, the San Jose Vet Center, for instance, had this schedule:

  • February – African American Heritage Month celebration
  • March – Women Veterans celebration
  • April – Annual Veterans’ Resource Fair for Veterans and their families  
  • May – Veterans appreciation celebration
  • May – Asian-American Heritage Month celebration
  • May – Memorial Day celebration
  • June – Juneteenth celebration
  • July – Veterans summer bar-b-que 
  • August – OIF/OEF Veteran carnival 
  • September – Hispanic Heritage Month celebration
  • October – Persons with disabilities celebration
  • November – Native American Heritage Month celebration
  • November – Veterans Day celebration
  • November – Thanksgiving celebration (30 turkeys are given away)
  • December – Holiday celebration

Your local VA Hospital, Clinic or Vet Center would be thrilled to hear from you.  They have lots of different needs for volunteers from greeters to data entry, event help, transportation, or just about any talent you want to share.
